PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of paper and density irregularity, in a printing apparatus for pressing paper to a character body by each hammer to perform printing, by a method wherein pressing forces due to the hammers are divided at every each character to be set and integrally stored in memories corresponding to the character bodies. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical character drum 2 having a plurality of character bodies 3 planted to the outer peripheral surface thereof is rotated and driven to the peripheral direction and also run to the axial direction through a support frame 4. A hammer apparatus 10 is positioned in front of the character drum 2 through a ribbon 9 and printing paper (a) and run in parallel with the character drum 2. In this case, printing is performed by protruding the hammer 16 provided to the upper part of said hammer apparatus 10. ROM29 stores divisions obtained by classifying the total number of the character bodies 3 according to each position thereof on the character drum 2 and the size of each character surface area. In printing, a second drive circuit 23 is acted on the basis of each division and applied voltage to the solenoid of the printing hammer is adjusted. |
