PURPOSE:To obtain the lightweight, compact and high performance heat exchanger suitable for an air conditioner in automotive use without using valuable precision mold and casting machine by a method wherein a heat transfer pipe for circulating heat transfer medium is installed in a foamed aluminum block. CONSTITUTION:Through holes 3 for ventilation are bored in a foam block 1, which is made of industrially pure aluminum of 99.8% in purity and yet expanded so as to have homogeneously and finely divided pores with 90% porosity by employing titanium hydride as a foaming agent, and furthermore a heat transfer pipe 2, through which the heat transfer medium is circulated and main component of which is copper or aluminum, pierces the foam block 1 back and forth in the direction normal to the direction of the through holes 3, resulting in obtaining the heat exchanger with high performances indespensable for air conditioner or the like. |
