PURPOSE:To extract a symbol exactly avoiding overlapping of symbol areas, by dividing a picture into small areas referring to lattice points and basing on a characteristic of information of each area expressed in compressed form. CONSTITUTION:A handwritten drawing is read by a picture inputting device 1, and the picture data are stored in a picture memory 2. The state of input of a reference point is detected by a reference detecting circuit 4 from the picture data held in the picture memory 2, and address of each lattice point corrected basing on input distortion is held in a lattice point table 5. Basing on the address obtained from the lattice point table 5, a controlling section 11 reads the picture memory 2 by an inspection window of 2X2 in the size between lattice axes, and transfers this to a lattice conversion circuit 6 and a lattice conversion circuit 8. Data thus obtained are processed by a lattice point label code generating circuit 7 and a lattice point label code generating circuit 9. |
