PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity and density and to reduce fog without impairing film hardness, by incorporating gelatin derivs. different in amino substitution rate within a specified range in at least one hydrophilic colloidal water-permeable layer of a silver halide photographic material. CONSTITUTION:A photographic material having high sensitivity and high image density, and low fog, and not lowering film hardness is obtained by using for a water-permeable hydrophilic emulsion layer of a silver halide photographic material at least one water-permeable hydrophilic colloidal layer contg. 40-90% of gelatin having its amino groups perfectly substd. by isocyanate, such as phenylisocyanate, 1-phenyl-2-ethyl-1-aziridine, phthalic anhydride, etc., and the rest 60-10% gelatin substd. by the like by 10-90mol%. |
