A process for producing a self-crimping yarn comprising using two types of filament includes spinning the second type of filament by extruding other steams of molten polymer of fiber-forming molecular weight from orifices that will give the filaments a round cross section, resulting in lower shrinkage than the first type of filament at a common spinning speed. The other steams are then quenched into the second type of filament.
