A cylinder lock/key combination consists of a housing 3, a cylinder core 4 which is received pivotably or rotatably therein, and a recess 5 extending parallel to the axis of the core and intended for a key 2. The key has a blade with a web part 2b which receives a first code 2b' for interaction with a series of locking pins 8. The key blade also has a side portion 2c provided with a code 2c' for interaction with a further series of locking pins 7 which are formed in the core and are provided with a waist portion 7a of smaller diameter than the rest of the pin. The last-mentioned locking pin 7 cooperates with a locking rod 10 which is received in a longitudinal recess in the cylinder core and which engages in a corresponding recess 21 in the cylinder housing. When the correct key is inserted, the locking rod is displaced inwards, upon rotation of the cylinder core, and each of a number of shoulders 10b on the locking rod engages in a waist 7a of a locking pin. Each pin 7 has at least one waist portion 7a situated at the same height and in which shoulders 10b engage in the release position of the locking rod, the heights of these shoulders 10b being dependent on the height for the surface engaging against a portion of a corresponding pin's end 7d with respect to the code parts 2c' located on the side portion of the key. Between the code parts there are transition parts 2c'' belonging to the code and of concavely curved cross- sectional shape. These code parts engage the pin along an arc-shaped engagement area which reduces wear. The invention also relates to a key for a combination of this type and to a key blank for production of such a key.
