PURPOSE:To reduce the bit error rate of the titled disk by forming a substrate layer to be provided between an optical disk substrate and a recording layer with a thin film consisting of a metal having higher m.p. than the recording medium constituting the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The substrate layer 3 to be provided between the optical disk substrate 1 and the recording layer 2 is formed with the thin film consisting of a metal having higher m.p. than the recording medium constituting the recording layer. As for the necessary condition of the substrate layer, the m.p. must be higher than that of the recording layer forming material, concretely at >=1,000 deg.C, and the light absorption must be low. The light absorption can be reduced by forming a comparatively thin film. Ni, Co, Mn, W, V, Ti, Fe, Zr, Nb, Mo, Ta, etc., can be exemplified as the metal capable of obtaining good results. Consequently, the bit error rate can be reduced, and the reliability of the optical disk is improved. |
