<p>PURPOSE:To enable front wheels as well as rear wheels to be steered by a simple structure by making a pinion of an offset arm for steering the rear wheels mesh with a ball nut of a recirculating ball type gear box for steering the front wheels. CONSTITUTION:An end of a steering shaft 2 of a steering wheel 1 is incorporated in a recirculating ball type gear box 20 for steering front wheels through an universal joint 3. A ball nut 21 is fitted onto the outer periphery of an end of this steering shaft 2 and formed on the left side of the outer periphery with rack teeth 22 which mesh with a sector gear 23, and a pitman arm 4 for steering front wheels 12 is connected to a gear 23. Also, rack teeth 25 is formed on the right side of the outer periphery of the ball nut 21. A pinion gear 26 meshes with the teeth 25, and is mounted on an offset arm 28 which is connected to a knuckle arm 14 for steering rear wheels 16 through respective links 30, 31 and a tie rod 13.</p> |
