PURPOSE:To form excellently an image without decreasing the luminous quantity of a light source for image formation by adopting the constitution that the sub-reflection pat of a reflector and the light source for reading image information are reversed at reading of image information. CONSTITUTION:In reading an image of an original G, a drive motor 35 drives the sub-reflection part 23 by 180 deg., the sub-reflection part 23 is inverted and a glow discharge tube 32 for image reading is opposed to the original face. Then the glow discharge tube 32 is lighted and light is scanned on the original G. The reflected light from the original G is photodetected by the image sensor 31 via the 1st-3rd mirrors 24-26, an image sensor lens 29 and a filter 30 and the image information is read. Since the glow discharge tube 32 for image reading is placed at the rear side of the sub-reflection part 23 at image forming in this way, the image is formed excellently without lowering the luminous quantity of the halogen lamp 21 for image forming reflected from the sub- reflection part 32.
