PURPOSE:To improve sound shielding capacity by constituting a joint cover body from an elastic body axially expansible and having a closed section, with one end being fixed to a dash panel and the other end being capable of engaging removably a column tube. CONSTITUTION:A steering joint cover body 1 is formed of a bellow-shaped rubber. The section of said body 1 crossing the axial direction is formed circular. And the total periphery of a flange 1a end face formed on one end of this body 1 is attached beforehand to an annular metal member 8 fixed to a dash lower panel 4. Also, a universal joint is received inside the body 1, and a metal cover 18 is press fitted into a column tube 3 covering a steering shaft 2 connected to said joint. And an engaging portion 12 formed on the other end of the body 1 engages removably a flange 18a of the cover 18. Thus, sound shielding capacity is improved by sealing the joint. |
