PURPOSE:To retain the vacuum in a condenser with slight power consumption by connecting a position of a turbine gland packing nearer to the condenser than to a seal steam feed section to an air extractor through a gland condenser. CONSTITUTION:Leaked steam from the air extracting port B of a gland packing 6 is guided to a gland condenser 9 to be condensed. An air extracting port C next to a condenser 40 is connected to an air extractor 15 through a gland condenser 12. Seal steam D tending to flow into the condenser 40 from the turbine gland packing 6 during a short stop is sucked to the gland condenser 12 and air extractor 15, thus preventing the seal steam D from leaking into the condenser 40. Accordingly, a circulating water pump 18 is stopped operating during a short stop of the steam turbine to save the power loss, thus the vacuum in the condenser 40 can be retained with slight power consumption.
