PURPOSE:To improve the pressure recovering performance of a disc type MHD generator by forming diffuser vanes in a wedge shape, and constructing to radially equalize the width of diffuser space formed between the vanes. CONSTITUTION:A diffuser vane 14 is formed in a wedge shape. The end of the vane 14 has a half vertex smaller than 10 deg., a height W, a length L. A plurality of vanes 14 are disposed at an interval of alpha deg. in a circumferential direction at the downstream of a generating current path so that the direction of the length L is matched to the radial direction of the generator. In this case, the half vertex angle and the disposing angle alpha deg. of the end of the vane 14 are selected so that the width G of the diffuser space 15 formed between adjacent vanes becomes equal from the front end to the rear end of the vane. The work fluid of the supersonic load which is passed through the generating current path generates an oblique impact wave 12 when reaching the end of the vane 14, thereby improving the recovering performance of the pressure. |
