[Also in Divisions B3 and B8] A film comprising a graft copolymer of an ethylene/ethyl acrylate copolymer and #-caprolactam and containing 75-95% by wt. of #-caprolactam, is made by extruding the polymer at 205-345‹ C. on to a casting roll maintained at 38-71‹ C. The ethylene/ethyl acrylate copolymer may contain its components in a weight ratio 82/18. The film is useful as an adhesive, being placed between the materials to be adhered and heated while they are pressed together. Sheet metal, e.g. tin-free steel coated with an epoxy-phenolic resin, may be so joined to form containers.</p> |
