PURPOSE:To improve remarkably the pretreatment efficiency of molten iron in a torpedo car by immersing a lance in the molten iron through the iron discharging and receiving hole of the car and blowing a pretreating agent while whirling the lance around a whirling center above the hole. CONSTITUTION:A lance 6 is immersed in molten iron in a torpedo car 1 through the iron discharging and receiving hole 7 of the car 1. While whirling the lance 6 around a whirling center C above the hole 7 and along a path (f), a pretreating agent for molten iron is blown into the molten iron together with a carrier gas through the lance 6. Conditions such as the number of holes in the lance 6, the diameter of each of the holes and the blowing direction are determined so as to attain the optimum value in accordance with the shape of the car 1 and the required efficiency of desulfurization or other treatment. |
