The invention relates to a process for eliminating HCl and SO2 from flue gas using calcium carbonate and calcium hydroxide. Flue gas is essentially taken to mean that from power stations, which is discharged into the atmosphere after its purification. If a high purity is demanded, that is low residual SO2 contents of the purified gas, a procedure purely involving limestone results in high operating costs and other disadvantages. In order to design the process to be more operationally reliable and economical, HCl and SO2 are absorptively eliminated using two-stage gas scrubbing, the scrubbing liquid used in the first scrubbing stage being suspended calcium carbonate and the scrubbing liquid used in the second scrubbing stage being suspended calcium hydroxide. |
