1,236,874. Rotary-piston internal combustion engines. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. Nov. 27, 1969 [Nov. 27, 1968], No. 58047/69. Heading F1F, In a rotary-piston fuel-injection I.C. engine, particularly but no exclusively of the Wankel type, to improve mixture formation and prevent fuel reaching the relatively cold side walls 2 of the engine casing two fuel-injection nozzles 3 are disposed in the casing peripheral wall 1 one behind the other in the axial direction of the casing such that the central longitudinal axes 4 of the jets 5 intersect and the outer boundaries 6 of the jets extend substantially parallel to one at a distance from the side walls. Preferably the jets intersect on the axis 8 of the sparking plug (not shown). If the plug is not fitted at the mid-width of the wall 1, the two nozzles may be adjusted accordingly. The nozzles may be slightly offset from one another as seen in the axial direction. The relatively large droplets issuing from the separate nozzles are broken down when the jets meet to give a rich readily adjustable mixture at the sparking plug.
