PURPOSE:To obtain attain a high-resolution contrography using a dry developer which makes low-voltage recording possible, by providing such magnetic gate that a toner is not flowed out unless an image is formed. CONSTITUTION:A gate member 5 which controls the flow-out of the toner from a toner vessel 3 is provided on a supporting body 6 through an insulating layer 7 and consists of many electrodes electrically independently of one another throughout the overall width of a toner carrying member. An intensive magnetic field is formed between the toner carrying member and electrodes 8 consisting of magnetic materials to prevent the flow-out of the toner by the restraint of the magnetic field of the gate part. When a voltage is applied by the picture signal from an electric signal generating source 9, a current is flowed from electrodes 8 through the toner, and the electrostatic attraction to the toner acts and surpasses the stopping force for flowing out of the toner due to the magnetic field in the gate member position, and the toner is flowed out to the surface of a toner carrying member 1 selectively with the shape of an image and is stuck there to form a recording image. |
