On a closure fitting for packaging containers, consisting of a press-in lid, between the edge and base area of which there is a wall which can be inserted in a clamping manner into the lid ring, and of a lid ring, whose inner edge is bent in the pressing-in direction, the object is to be achieved of providing a very easily producible lid safeguard which reliably prevents the lid from springing off when pressure occurs in the interior of the packaging container. This object is achieved by the invention in that the lid wall has a wall part in the shape of a truncated cone which tapers towards the base area of the lid and, between said truncated cone-shaped wall part and the base area of the lid, a wall part which forms a step and projects outwards, and in that the inner edge of the lid ring has the shape of a truncated cone which tapers in the same direction as the truncated cone-shaped wall part of the fitted press-in lid and whose length is dimensioned to be equal to or shorter than the length of the truncated cone-shaped wall part of the lid, so that, when the press-in lid is pressed in firmly, the inner edge of the lid ring is supported by its end face on the step on the wall of the press-in lid.
