A closure for an outlet of a liquid container of an appliance has a closure part which is movable from a closed position into a metering or filling position and is automatically held in the filling position. The closure part is preferably of plate-type construction and is spring-loaded both in the closed position and in the filling position. With this closure, the associated container can be filled extremely easily and in a short time and can then readily be closed completely tightly.
