Capabilities are being developed by means of which short-circuit rotors of cast-aluminium design can be constructed even in the case of three-phase asynchronous machines in the IEC shaft-height range from 400 to approximately 1,000. For this purpose, the rotor cage must be subdivided for economical reasons and for manufacturing considerations. If necessary, the interruptions which are produced between the sector cages or sub-rotors are electrically conductively welded after casting. As a result of the application of the invention, the manufacture of the rotors becomes more machine-intensive so that, finally, the rotor construction production capacity is increased.
