Described are o-halobenzoic acid derivatives of the formula I wherein W is wherein R4, is lower alkyl, X is oxygen or sulfur, and n is integer of 3 or 4; R1 is hydrogen or halogen; R2 is halogen; R3 is hydrogen or C1-C8-alkyl which may have lower alkoxy; processes for the production of said compounds, herbicidal compositions containing said compounds as effective components and a method for killing weeds using said compounds.
