PURPOSE:To double the feeding quantity of a ribbon and eliminate density difference in transverse direction of a recording paper, by a method wherein an ink ribbon mounted on a carriage can be fed, through a pawl and a ratchet, by a movement in either direction of the reciprocating motions of a lever interlocked with reciprocation of the carriage. CONSTITUTION:When the carriage 2 is moved in the direction of an arrow A, a projection 4a of a driving lever 4 provided in the locus of the carriage 2 is engaged to the carriage 2 and is moved in the direction of the arrow A, accompanied by movement of a pulling pawl 6 and a pushing pawl 7 in the same direction as above. The pulling pawl 6 energized by a pawl spring 8 to engage with the ratchet wheel 5 engages with a tooth of the ratchet wheel 5 at a slanted surface 6a, while the pushing pawl 7 engages with a tooth of the ratchet wheel 5 at a slanted surface 7b escaping from the tooth, and the ratchet wheel 5 is rotated in the direction of an arrow B. When the carriage 2 is moved in the direction of an arrow A', the lever 4 is also moved in the direction of the arrow A'. In this case, the pawl 6 supported by the spring 8 so as to engage with the ratchet wheel 5 is engaged with the tooth of the wheel 5 at a slant surface 6b separating from the tooth, while the pawl 7 is engaged with the tooth of the wheel 5 at a slanted surface 6b for engaging with the tooth, so that the wheel 5 is rotated in the direction of the arrow B. Accordingly, the ratchet wheel 5 is rotated in the same direction by any part of the reciprocating motion of the carriage 2, and the feeding quantity of the ribbon is doubled. |
