PURPOSE:To improve lubricity and mechanical strength and to obtain a magnetic recording medium having a long life, by providing a protective layer contg. lubricants of fluorine, silicone or fluorine-silicone and reinforcing materials for rubber on a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A protective layer contg. >=1 kinds of lubricants of fluorine, silicone or fluorine-silicone, and reinforcing materials for rubber such as inorg. reinforcing materials such as carbon black, silica, ZnO, CaCO3 or the like and org. reinforcing materials such as high styrene resin, cumarone-indene resin, or the like in combination is formed on a magnetic layer 2 produced by depositing a ferromagnetic metallic layer by evaporation on a substrate 1 of polyester, etc. The magnetic recording medium having adequate reinforcement strength and flexural property is obtd. if the inorg. reinforcing materials having average grain sizes in a 0.01-0.5mu range are used. The magnetic tape or the like which is improved not only in lubricity but also in mechanical strength and life is thus obtd. |
