PURPOSE:To relieve the elongation of a core, to prevent a water run, and to extend the life of an optical fiber by installing plural fiber cores in a pipe together with a gel material around a center wire, and adhering them mutually with hot-melt resin. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber unit 10 consists of the center wire 12 which is a high tensile strength wire and plural optical fiber cores 14, which are stranded around the center wire 12 and filled with a filling material 16. Each core 14 has a primary coating 20 around the optical fiber 18 and a wire element 22 is sheathed with the pipe 26 of thermoplastic resin together with the gel material 24. Further, outer circumferential surfaces of the center wire 12 and cores 14 are covered with epoxy/polyamide hot-melt resin coatings 30 and 32 previously, and the center wire 12, cores 14, and filling material 16 are adhered mutually through the hot-melt resin coatings 30 and 32. |
