PURPOSE:To dispose a scanning member at an exposure starting position accurately, by allowing a single detector to detect members to be detected whose quantities are provided corresponding to the size of a copying material, and positioning the scanning member at a scan starting position corresponding to copy size. CONSTITUTION:A central arithmetic processing part CPU outputs a stop signal when the counted value of a counting part attains to ''1'' in case of copying paper of size A, to ''2'' in case of copying paper of size B, or to ''3'' in case of copying paper of size C. Namely, when paper is of size A, a reversing clutch is turned off once a photointerrupter detects a member 15a to be detected, thereby arranging scanning mirrors 10 and 11 at scan starting positions corresponding to the copying paper of size A. Similarly, when the paper is of size B or C, the reversing clutch is turned on once the interrupter detects a member 15b or 15c to be detected. |
