New quinone compounds of the formula: <CHEM> wherein R is methyl or methoxy and Y is formyl, carboxyl, an alkoxycarbonyl having 2 to 5 carbon atoms, carbamoyl, a mono- or dialkylcarbamoyl whose alkyl moiety has 1 to 4 carbon atoms or carbamoyloxymethyl, or their hydroquinone-form compounds, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, have useful physiological activities such as antiasthmatic and antiallergic activities.
