PURPOSE:To improve squeaking, etc. in high humidity by providing an undercoating layer having granular projections within a specific height range by using fine particles of carbon as nuclei and using a resin binder on the surface of a plastic film, providing a ferromagnetic layer thereon and sticking a lubricant on the metallic layer. CONSTITUTION:A coating liquid prepd. by dissolving 20-10,000ppm a binder resin in a colloidal soln. of carbon dispersed with 5-5,000ppm carbon particles having 10-500Angstrom grain sizes is coated on a plastic film substrate 1 and is dried, whereby an coating layer 3 having 1,000 pieces/mm.<2> particle projections of 30- 500Angstrom particle height with the carbon particles as nuclei 2 is formed. A thin ferromagnetic metallic film 4 is diagonally or vertically deposited by evaporation on the layer 3. The corrosion and wear resistance of the film 4 may be improved by depositing said film by evaporation in a gaseous O2 atmosphere. A magnetic recording medium stuck with a lubricant layer 5 of stearic acid (amide, ester) and silicone or fluorine base etc. or with a lubricant 15 on the projections is manufactured. The magnetic recording medium which reduces squeaking in high humidity, has improved quality of reproduced image, and has the good still life for VTR for high density recording is thus obtd. |
