<p>Twisted yarn with a total diameter of 0.2-5 mm consists of 2-60 monofilaments, which are combined to twisted units of 2-10 monofilaments, these twisted units being twisted together at the rate of 90-600 turns per metre to form final twisted units, the rotation of the separate twisted units being in the same direction as that of the final twisted units, while the yarn consists of a macromolecular linear polyester. The yarns have a higher strength and a lower weight than monofilaments with the same diameter, and have a more uniform cross section and better surface structure then twisted multifilaments. The yarns are useful in the prodn of fishing nets, V-belts and car tyres.</p> |
