<p>The hydrocarbon mixture is treated with a complex of one of the Cu salts with an olefin or non-vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon (eg. toluene) or their mixtures, with a Cu salt: vinyl aromatic molar ratio of 0.25:1 to 10:1, at 0-195 degrees (pref. 25-150 degrees). The complex may be stabilised by a variety of ethers, ketones, sulphones, disulphides, thioethers, thioureas, nitro cpds. and trihydrocarbonyl phosphines. A non-complexible hydrocarbon may be present, pref. 3-15C aliphatic. An extract phase and a raffinate phase are obtained, and a vinyl aromatic-rich fraction is recovered from the former by contacting with a 2-15C (pref. 5-7C) olefin. Process is pref. carried out in 2 extraction columns with recycle of the extract phase.</p> |
