PURPOSE:To increase the speed of printing by using a system in which printing is made by one or plural times' scanning for every print line according to dot patterns to be printed on the print line in parallel with the scanning direction. CONSTITUTION:In a pattern conversion circuit 6, reading is made in the order of (a), (b), (c) and (e) in the direction of right to a dot pattern (g) and output, and then reading is made in the order of (f) and (d) in the direction of left and output. In the cases of (h), (i), (k) and (l), reading is made in the direction of any of right and leftdirections and output. Also, in a paper feed control circuit 7, in cases of the dot patterns (g), (j) and (m), the feeding of paper is controlled each time reciprocally two times' scanning is made by the print head, and also in cases of (h), (i), (k) and (l), the feeding of paper is made one step each when reciprocal or one time-scanning made by the print head. The print head can thus be scanned at a speed two times as much as the limit speed V obtained by dividing the dot pitch P by a recycle time T. |
