PURPOSE:To deal with various kinds of sheets in a sheet feeder by providing a sheet feed roller capable of moving corresponding to the size of a sheet and a spring member for pressing the feed roller to the sheet surface which is a click stopper for positioning the feed roller. CONSTITUTION:In feeding sheets such as a copy sheet or the like, a lifter driving device 18 is intermittently driven in such a manner that the uppermost paper surface 12 on a table goes within a range of (h). Then, a paper feed roller 13 is rotated to start feeding paper. At this time, a paper feed roller 13 is pivoted corresponding to the height of the uppermost paper surface 12, and paper feed pressure is applied by a spring member 5. A paper feed roller pivoting unit 2 is capable of moving along the thrust of a fixed shaft 3 and pressed by the spring member 5. The end portion of the spring member 5 is provided with a projecting portion 22 which is selectively engaged with a plurality of notch grooves 24 mounted on a stay member 6 to accomplish a click stop. In this arrangement, a minimum paper feed roller 13 can deal with various kinds of sheets. |
