METHOD OF STARTING A FLYER FRAME

The timed slow-speed initial running of the flyer frame gently takes up roving slack, i.e. at re-start after doffing or breakdown and without causing ballooning of slack roving until normal operating speed is reached. Specifically the low startup speed is provided by cushion starting, by a closed circuit transition autotransformer, or by a reactor starting method, or by a stator resistance starting method, by motor pole changing or by voltage control using thyristors.
