PURPOSE:To contribute to the production process, the transportation and the storage management by measuring the viscosity of a pulverized coal-water slurry in a low shift speed area below the specified value with a rotary viscometer to enable a handy, quick and accurate evaporation of the stability thereof. CONSTITUTION:The viscosity of a pulverized coal-water slurry (called as CWS) is measured at a low shift speed below 5 rotation/sec with a rotary viscometer (B type viscometer made by Tokyo Keiki Co., LTD). More than 1min of standing prior to the measurement will restore the network construction of the slurry thereby permitting an accurate forecasting of the storage stability. The higher the viscosity, the better the storage stability. For example, the viscosity measured at a speed of 1.5sec<-1> and days of stability immediately after the production are between straight lines (c) and (d) in the chart I . when the difference is determined between values of viscosity measured at a shift speed of 1.5sec<-1> and 10sec<-1> after 5min of standing following the production, a straight line (e) is obtained as shown in the graph on the chart II. This enables the easy, quick and accurate measurement of CWS even at the production site and both before and after the storage and transportation. |
