PURPOSE:To enable to always monitor an air gap for a rotary electric machine by guiding a laser light through an optical fiber from the shaft end of a rotor to the vicinity of a pole, and producing the light through a condensing lens system from optical fiber group secured in plural number. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 2 is connected to a laser light source 1, the outlet end is opposed to the inlet end of an optical fiber 4 at the rotating center of a rotor 3 of a rotary electric machine, and the outlet end is further optically connected to a condensing lens system 5 provided in the vicinity of a pole 6. A light receiving plate 8 which supports optical fiber group 7 fixed in plural number at a pitch P of approx. 1mm. is opposed to the system 5, the output of the group 7 is inputted to a photoelectric converter 11 to operate an indicator 12. Accordingly, four indicators are disposed peripherally of a stator 9, thereby accurately monitoring the variation in the air gap due to the rotation of the rotor 3 without being affected by the influence of electromagnetic induction. |
