The process comprises association of a primary fuel element with a compound decomposing at the combustion temp. of the said element, in a reacting metal acid. The acid reacts with the sulphur oxides formed during combustion of the residual sulphur of the primary fuel. This gives a sulphurous or sulphuric salt of the metal, which is trapped in the ash of the primary fuel.
