PURPOSE:To easily obtain a well centered lens neither having any shift in optical axis nor the angular deviation of curved surface by constructing the device so that the end surface of a lens is ground while simultaneously observing the eccentricity of both the transmitting hole of said lens being machined and the reflecting light together with correction of the eccentricity. CONSTITUTION:On the rotary center axis l (which becomes the optical axis of an optical path) of an almost cylindrical holder 7 of a lens end-surface grinding device, a lens 8 to be machined is installed on the holder 7. Adjacent to this lens 8 on the other side of the holder 7 is placed an objective lens 9, followed by a collimeter lens 10, a half mirror 11, an indication 12, and a lamp 13 as a light source, in this order each spaced at certain intervals apart from the other. Then, the lens 8 which is turned together with the holder 7 is ground, with the tip of a whetstone 17 brought in contact with its end surface. By carrying out a grinding operation while observing the locus of each light image through an eye- piece 15, a good centering can be obtained enabling immediate correction of the lens 8 even when it is moved carelessly. |
