The oven door, pulled down to gain access to the heating chamber, consists of an outer wall incorporating a glass plate, and overlapping the aperture of the chamber and a smaller inner wall which makes a microwave tight seal with the chamber when closed. The inner wall consists of a metal surround (13), and another glass plate (15) which sits in a groove in the surround. The radius (R1) of the inside corners of the metal surround is greater than the radius (R2) of the corners of the glass plate. This difference allows for differential heating, the use of cheaper glass, less accurate assembly techniques, and also limits possible sparking or abnormal heating due to misalignment of the glass plate.
|
