The invention relates to a device for testing leaktightness and for detecting leaks, particularly for tanks. This device comprises a stopper 1 for closing a vessel 8, made up of an enclosure 2 which laterally divides the gas introduced through 10 into the vessel by its base 4 provided with lateral openings 9, and whose outer plate 3 is fastened to the vessel by detachable jointed-lever clamping means 20 to 30 which clamp a collar 5 of the plate 3 against a collar 7 of the vessel 8.
