PURPOSE:To enable the detection of not only the sensitivity of a detector but also the degree of contamination on the housing wall in a dark room without adding any photodetector as a test system, by adding the specific quantity of the light emitted from a test light emitter in the stage of testing and stopping the same in the stage of monitoring. CONSTITUTION:When a fire arises and smoke particles M fill the room increasingly, the scattered light B for monitoring is made incident to a detector R1 for monitoring light, which generates a fire signal FI. A controller CL acts to control a test light emitting device L3 so as to emit test light T together with a monitoring light emitting device L1 in the stage of testing the detector. The test light T is reflected and scattered by the housing wall F in a dark room, and the total sum E of the test scattered light is made incident to a photodetector F1 for monitoring, which detects the same as the fire signal FI when the alarming level is attained, thus the operation test of the detector is accomplished. The difference between the quantity of the total emitted test light T by which the detector is operated and the light A emitted for monitoring in the stage of ordinary monitoring is beforehand set at n-times (or 1/n times) of the light A emitted for monitoring and the sensitivity of the detector and the degree of comtamination of the housing wall in the dark room are tested and detected from the value of said difference. |
