PURPOSE:To enable highly accurate machining regardless of outer surface accuracy and improve the operational efficiency by enabling the claws that restrict a workpiece to automatically follow the swinging turn of the workpiece according to the information, such as, the curvature, rotating phase, deflection due to its own weight, etc. of the workpiece. CONSTITUTION:With a workpiece 11 being affected only by gravity, the swinging of the workpiece 11 due to curvature and strain is detected through displacement sensors 18a and 18b. These detected signals are inputted into a computer 19, together with the rotating signals of the workpiece 11, and actuators 17a and 17b are controlled enabling claws 14a and 14b to follow the swinging turn of the workpiece 11 and to slide in the horizontal direction. As the workpiece is ground in this state, by providing cut and feed to an abrasive wheel 12, the claw 14a can always follow and be brought in contact with the workpiece 11 without need for providing a forced method for correcting the outer curvature or strain even when the workpiece 11 has a curvature and rotates around its rotary center O. Thereby the workpiece is allowed to maintain high accuracy. |
