In a washing and spinning machine, in which the laundry is driven in a rotating drum (2) and follows a trajectory, there is provided a liquor flow from the housing tub (4) underneath the drum (2), by means of which washing liquor is returned into the drum at a minimum height of more than approximately 1/10 of the drum diameter above the lowest drum point (5), so that the bath level in the drum interior is markedly above the bath level in the tub (4) and the operation can be carried out with a smaller volume of liquid, whilst at the same time ensuring at least an identical washing performance. <IMAGE>
