Optionally foamed intumescent compositions obtained by reacting 1. polyisocyanates with 2. phosphorus-containing condensation products containing at least two hydroxyl groups and obtainable by condensation of optionally OH-containing primary or secondary monoamines and/or polyamines, carbonyl compounds and dialkyl phosphites, optionally with subsequent oxyalkylation, and 3. compounds containing at least two hydroxyl groups and having a mean OH number of from 150 to 500 and containing phosphorus, nitrogen, sulphur or halogen, and 4. optionally cyanuric acid and/or cyanuric acid derivatives, and 5. optionally water and 6. optionally further organic compounds containing hydrogen atoms which are reactive towards isocyanates, are used, for example, as cavity fillings, joint sealants, semifinished products, profile materials or coatings.
