A sports shoe sole has grip elements, such as for example cleats, spikes, baseball fittings and the like, which are made entirely or partly from oxide ceramic (Al2O3), are embedded in a foundation which absorbs bending forces and are anchored by means of the foundation in the basic material of the sole. Such grip elements are characterised in that they are virtually wear-resistant, as a result do not form any sharp corners and edges and thus ensure an increased degree of safety from injuries to the sportsperson. The grip elements made of oxide ceramic further offer the advantage of a low unit weight and simple manufacturability, maintaining great dimensional stability and practically without subsequent working.
