The invention relates to a method of coating wires by electrophoretic deposition of solid particles from a dispersion and its object is to provide a method which makes possible continuous coating which is easy in economic terms. The invention provides that the wire is passed in a horizontal direction through an opening in a vertical metal sheet, that the dispersion containing the solid particles is applied to at least one side of the metal sheet in a region above the opening, and that a direct voltage is applied between wire and metal sheet. The method according to the invention is suitable, in particular, for producing cables and conductors resistant to high temperature. <IMAGE>
