In a reverse drive, a lever reversing gear mechanism with two levers between the slides of two fast-running buttons and a lever bearing a fast-running wheel can be switched over by actuating a reserve slide in such a way that fast forwarding and fast rewind are functionally assigned correctly to the respective fast-running buttons in the case of both tape running directions.
