In an artificial bait for fish, which bait contains a base substance in which additives such as flavour substances, colorants or the like can be incorporated, it is provided that the base substance is composed of proteins and/or polysaccharides and/or lipids as a gel. As a result, a bait is produced which matches in overall consistency the natural feedstuffs of the fish, can be produced without difficulty in any desired shape, indicates optically to the angler the continuing loss of flavour and/or aroma substances in the water and at the same time can be cheaply and simply produced. Furthermore, a process for producing such an artificial bait in maggot shape is described, in which an aqueous solution at a concentration of 0.5 to 3% by weight of sodium alginate is pumped by means of a peristaltic pump through a tube into a 5% strength Ca solution. By this means, a continuous extrudate of the artificial bait is produced in maggot shape having a completely uneven diameter over its entire length, which results in a particularly good approximation to the natural shape of the maggots. |
