<p>PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound useful as an antibacterial agent, etc., economically in an industrial scale, by treating a specific 7-amino-3-cephem- 4-carboxylic acid with 1,3-bistrimethylsilylurea, reacting the product with a specific acrylating agent, and removing the protecting group from the reaction product. CONSTITUTION:7-[ 2-( 1H-Tetrazol-1-yl )acetamido ]-3-(5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2- yl)thiomethyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid (salt) can be prepared by (1) treating 7-amino-3-(5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)thiomethyl-3-cephem-4-carbox ylic acid with 1,3-bistrimethylsilylurea in an anhydrous solvent, (2) reacting the product with 2-(1H-tetrazol-1-yl)acetyl chloride under neutral condition, (3) eliminating the trimethylsilyl group, and if necessary, (4) converting the product to a non-toxic salt.</p> |
