In a process for the purification of exhaust air containing biologically degradable, in particular poorly water-soluble impurities, the exhaust air is conducted through a scrubber, the impurities are absorbed by a scrubbing liquid containing activated sludge and are biologically degraded by the microorganisms of the activated sludge in an activated sludge tank.
