PURPOSE:To achieve yield enhancement and energy conservation in a reaction wherein an org. phase is in contact with an aqueous phase, by promoting the reaction by adding a quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactant shown by the formula to the reaction system. CONSTITUTION:In a reaction system wherein an aqueous phase containing a hydroxide or a salt of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal and an org. phase comprising an org. substance as raw material or a hydrophobic solvent solution thereof are present, one or more quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactants shown by the formula (wherein R is an 8-24C hydrocarbon group, a benzene-substituted or unsubstituted alkylcarbonyl group, a benzene-substituted or unsubstituted alkenylcarbonyl group, R'-R'' are each a 1-8C hydrocarbon group or a hydroxy-substituted hydrocarbon group, A'' is a halogen ion or a monovalent org. acid or inorg. acid ion and one or two of R-R'' have a benzene nucleus) is used as an effective component. |
