PURPOSE:To obtain a torque detecting device suitable for vehicle mounting, by arranging an elastic body so as to bridge a driving side rotary body and a driven side rotary body in the radial direction intersecting the circumferential direction of rotation, detecting the amount of deformation of said elastic body, thereby simplifying the structure. CONSTITUTION:An elastic body 5 is provided between a first rotary body 2, which is linked to a crank shaft 1 of an engine, and a second rotary body 4, which is coupled to a clutch or a torque converter. An annular rotary body 6 is coupled to the rotary body 2. Teeth 6a and 4a are provided at the outer surface parts of the rotary bodies 6 and 4 as detecting parts. When the two rotary bodies 4 and 6 are rotated, AC voltage are generated in pickups 7 and 8 due to the changes in reluctances caused by the unevenness of the teeth 4a and 6a. Said AC voltages are introduced to a measuring circuit MC, and the phase difference in the rotations of the two rotary bodies 4 and 6 is obtained. Thus the torque transmitted through the elastic body 5 can be obtained. |
